Door Latch Maintenance And Adjustment On A 1950 Ford Coupe – San Diego / Alpine, California

This beautiful 1950 Ford Coupe sits nice and low, but it’s doors shut like a 63 year old car. From the mid-50’s to the early 60’s, Ford used reciprocating star latches that would continuously rotate until it caught the second position on the striker. If you find yourself slamming your door to only have it bounce back, it means the latch needs maintenance, or the striker needs adjusting. This particular one needed the latches lubricated, and the strikers adjusted. The doors had an alignment issue that will be taken care of at a later time, but it did not preventĀ  me from getting the doors to close much easier than slamming them.

If you have to slamĀ the doors on your Classic Ford, Chevy or Mercury, then give Classic Resto Garage a call at a 619-929-8506, or fill the contact form.

Happy Cruising!
